This little "gem" is situated right in the heart of the historical centre of the former capital town of Tuscany. The old part of the town is entirely contained within its medieval walls, and the cobbled streets offer a delightful maze of interesting and enchanting corners. Traffic is restricted and many of the "Lucchesi", even the "senior citizens", get around on bicycles!

The apartment itself, situated on the 4th Floor (sorry, yes, there are stairs!) of a 16th Century building, is orientated north/south and gets sunshine for a good part of the day.

You can actually sunbathe sitting at the windows looking out over the marble facade of the church of "San Michele", the patron saint of Lucca.

We offer one large double bedroom but there is also a comfortable, quality double sofa-bed in the spacious lounge. The comfortable lounge/dining area (25 sq. metres) is attractively and, we think, appropriately furnished. It has oak parquetry flooring and a high ceiling with typical chestnut timber supporting beams. Air conditioning is a bonus for the warm summer months.

The bedroom is roomy (again 25 sq.m.) and faces south. Its layout and views also invite daytime use. The "king sized" wrought- iron bed separates into two singles if necessary. We provide ample storage in this room. Again a feature is the sloping, tiled ceiling with massive beams of chestnut from the Garfagnana area of northern Tuscany.

The kitchen, galley style, is well equipped for Tuscan cooking requirements and has a gas cooker and electric oven, fridge-freezer and a more than adequate supply of crockery, cutlery and all necessary utensils. It has nice views too!

The shower room is of a comfortable size with shower (also cute little views) wash basin, w.c. and bidet. This area also houses a small washing machine.(Exterior pulley drying facility outside kitchen window). Towels are provided.

We provide a CD/cassette/radio system, and you will also find a small selection of music (Lucca is the birthplace of Puccini!), books and games. We do not have T.V. or telephone, but there is a public phonebox in the square outside and there are internet and fax centres in the town. For cooler times of the year the apartment has the benefit of a modem gas central heating system.
